ABOUT

Kate Broughton designer

Kate Broughton is a British illustrator and designer based in Otley, West Yorkshire.

She is best known for her illustrated prints, eco-friendly cards, stationery, and giftware inspired by nature, wildlife, and domestic life. Her independent one woman brand, established in 2008, combines charming illustration with sustainable materials and environmental responsibility. Broughton’s work exemplifies the modern British indie design movement focused on craftsmanship, sustainability, and personal connection.

Kate’s work often celebrates the small pleasures of everyday British life—gardening, birds, tea, and countryside walks. Environmental consciousness is central to her brand: cards use 100% recycled paper, packaging is biodegradable, and production partners are UK based, ethical and sustainable, minimising environmental impact.

After studying textile design at Nottingham Trent University, she developed a distinctive illustration style characterised by fine linework and subtle palettes. She began her creative business in Nottingham in 2008, initially selling handmade goods at local craft fairs before expanding online. Her Etsy shop quickly gained international attention for its nature-themed products and sustainable ethos. By 2014, she had returned to Yorkshire to work full-time from her home studio, where she continues to produce, package, and design new collections.
